A song in the heart will put a smile on the face and so will calling on a friend.
Cocker piddle pants...
oh yes we all know that little wiggle butt piddle. I get asked this question all the time.
There are a few things that will really help with that if the whole family gets on board.
1) it's mainly a learned behavior. When you go to let them out of their crate/pen after a long day
and bladders are full do NOT talk to them. Not one word. Full bladder+ excitement = a learned behavior of piddle, piddle, piddle. Once you get it started it's almost impossible to break.
I say ~~keep your happy voice to yourself until the baby has gone outside to go potty.
2) it's NOT part of house training. In fact...if you scold them for it you just made it worse. Just clean it up and go on with your business. If you try to spank them for it be prepaired to keep cleaning and cleaning some more.
3) I like to say it's more of a lack of socialization issue than anything once it gets started. The more people they meet, greet and have around the less likely they are to do this. If they are confident and not afraid they will be ok.
4) Same when company comes over. Don't talk/pet/say Hi to the dog at all. Walk right past the dog and when the dog is used to the company and the excitement is over they will fit right in and not be the center of attention and the excitement will be less noticable.
Also, if you know company is coming, make sure the dog has been outside so the bladder isn't so full...less to clean up!!
Bladder/Kidney/Urinary track infections.
It isn't uncommon for a puppy to have an infection. They are learning to hold it, where to go, excitement of a new
home etc. At times they will not empty out the bladder completely time and time again. Nerves and not sure of it all
can cause them to not fully empty and clean out the bladder system. When this happens an infection or irritation
can occur. PLEASE DO NOT run to the vet and get antibiotics. Don't hold water while training either. They need
water at all times. If you're tired of taking them outside..o-well. Signs may be...frequent squats and not going,
redness or puffy looking, crying when they go etc.
The best cleanser for this is CRANBERRY. You can use many forms. Pill form, 100% cranberry
juice~not cocktail juice, dog/cat cranberry extract etc. It's available everywhere!!!
100% cranberry juice~~1 tsp per 5 pounds 2x a day. Right in the mouth for 5 days or until you see
results.
revivalanimal.com~~Cranberry Relief, Cranberry Extra and so on.
Don't even get me started on what antibotics do to the immune system of your dog.
Natural is always best if possible.
