Going Home
In our busy world today it seems very difficult to get schedules to match when it is time for the new baby to go home.
We have heard for years that puppies should stay with their mothers until they are 8 weeks old. That sounds good on
paper but just think of the poor mother and those puppy teeth!!! As a breeder I have found that weaning the babies works
well at 5 weeks of age. Any longer than that and the moms do not want to nurse them. I sometimes have to force them
to nurse. Of course some would nurse forever if they could, but the majority have had it by 5 weeks
and enjoy the time away. Then of course you have the feeding issue. When puppies start to eat food, moms can be really
upset they have to share their dish. This causes a lot of biting/training and crying babies. But...it also teaches them
to respect their mothers!!
Local puppies are ready to go home when they are 7 weeks old. If you are shipping your puppy, they have to be 8 weeks.
Haircuts are done at 5-6 weeks and at this time your weekly pictures will stop. I just can't get them to sit still anymore. Friday nights and weekends are very busy around here!!! Bath time, signing paperwork and getting any questions answered. Remember to bring a list because once you see your baby you forget the questions!!! LOL
If you have questions after you are home, please give me a call or e-mail. I answer e-mails in the evening only so if it is very
important, please call me. I usually have a phone on my belt so very few calls are missed.
JCC is a dog breeding kennel. I have a system that I have to follow to make sure my puppies are taken care of and are
ready to go home in the best condition possible. I usually have babies here at all different ages and stages in their growth.
It is very important that you check your schedule so you are available when your puppy is ready to go home.
Having a puppy here longer than 8 weeks really disrupts my system. Older puppies do not play well with 5 week old babies.
Playtime around here is quite an ordeal. Everyone must play nice. Older puppies are rough, busy, heavy when jumping on the
little ones, and dominant over tiny babies that are learning to walk around.
They all need their excersise and social time so playtime is a must for everyone. No one is left out.
Puppies being left here after 8 weeks of age has become an issue for me.
I do realize you have vacations, commitments, and other things that are important also so please check your schedules.
Home
No man has a right to do as he pleases unless he pleases to do right.
For the well being of my babies and for me to keep my nerves in check.....
puppies must go home around their release dates.
Please contact me if this is a problem.
Thanks
